AULD LANG SYNE: Embracing the Power of Reflection and Resilience

As we bid farewell to another year and welcome a new beginning, the classic tune of "Auld Lang Syne" fills the air, reminding us of the importance of reflection, gratitude, and resilience. This timeless song, often sung on New Year's Eve, evokes a sense of nostalgia and contemplation, urging us to look back on the past, appreciate the present, and embrace the future with renewed hope and determination.

I feel as if I awoke from a long nap and found the last ninety days of this year have bid me farewell without being present. Life happened, and I was a participant rather than the navigator. Now, attempting to navigate the remaining few weeks of Twenty Thousand and Twenty-Four, I've let go of dwelling on what I haven't accomplished and reflect on all the abundance of the year.

Taking a moment to look back at our experience can be enlightening. Reflecting on our journey can help us see how far we've come and what we've accomplished. It is also important to learn from our past mistakes rather than dwell on them.

Reflecting on this year, I have had many moments of great opportunities for which I am grateful. One of my favorite experiences this year was attending the "We Who Wrestle with God Tour" with Dr. Jordan Peterson. This man's intellect, compassion, reflections, and dynamic personality enhance my life, whether through his books, YouTube videos, blogs, podcasts, or his new Peterson Academy. Second, my trip to Fennville, Michigan, with nine female high school classmates. I blogged about this amazing time of reconnecting and renewing old friendships. We toured the lovely wineries, went shopping, enjoyed a doughnut boat ride on the lake, and, of course, experienced amazing cuisine. I am looking forward to the second annual MHS Girls Trip this summer. The third highlight was a pool party in Wataga, IL, and Market Valley Wines in Monmouth, IL, with three of my closest friends from high school. The day was sunny, hot, humid, and full of laughter, ending with great music in the alleyway. I must add my daily dose of unconditional love from my beloved dog, Oakley. He waits for my return at the door with his wagging tail, huge smile, and doggy whimper of excitement. It's a shame I must spend so much of my day away from him, as he is truly my happiness.

I must celebrate the privilege of lifelong learning. I had two unique experiences of participation in entrepreneur programs through the NewBo Market Emerging Entrepreneur Program presented by Linn Area Credit Union in Cedar Rapids, IA, and the University of Iowa Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Program. I am grateful for the insight and leadership provided to help me start Renewed Restored Reloved. Lifelong learning makes life interesting and meaningful. It's not just about new information but taking life's obstacles and turning them into opportunities. Daily life improvements allow us to change, solve problems, and make better choices.

Gratitude is the antidote to complacency and the key to unlocking the abundant blessings that surround us. How could I not practice gratitude for the positive aspects of this past year and all the opportunities that enhance my life? Twenty Thousand and Twenty-Four has had some knockout punches too. Loss of family, friends, and the usual unexpected twists and turns have become my normal. If resilience is like a muscle that needs to be exercised and strengthened over time, mine showed up at the gym daily. I had to remind myself this shall pass; I had to learn to embrace challenges with a positive attitude to face adversity. I know from many lengthy discussions my friends too experienced life's drama and trauma. Resilience is not about avoiding obstacles but about facing them head-on, emerging stronger and wiser on the other side. Bounce back from adversity and overcome that challenge with strength and grace.

The power of "Auld Lang Syne," the famous Scottish song, is a perfect reminder of the importance of reflection and resilience. The lyrics encourage us to remember the past, cherish the present, and look forward to the future with hope and optimism. As we embark on a new year filled with possibilities and opportunities, let us embrace the spirit of "Auld Lang Syne" and harness the power of reflection, gratitude, and resilience. By looking back with gratitude, looking forward with hope, and facing challenges with resilience, we can create a life filled with meaning, purpose, and joy.

Here's to a year of growth, transformation, and endless possibilities!

Toast to all, may you "Renew Restore Relove"!

Happy New Year

XOXO,

Tina
